Not one of the good promises which the LORD had made to the house of Israel failed: all came to pass
Joshua 21:45
"Now behold, today I am going the way of all the earth, and you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one word of all the good words which the LORD your God spoke concerning you has failed; all have been fulfilled for you, not one of them has failed.
Joshua 23:14
How do we know that God is faithful? Because He has established a track record with man. From the beginning of time, God has proven his faithfulness. We see it with Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, and with every biblical character in the Word of God.
With Joshua, it was no different. Moses had died, and Joshua had been charged with taking the children of Israel into the Promised Land. The battles Joshua faced were difficult, as none of the former inhabitants just gave their land to God’s people. Every battle was hard fought. Despite the battles in the north or in the south, one thing stayed the same – God remained faithful to them.
I don’t know what battles you have to fight today, this week, or this year. One thing I do know is that our faithful God is with us, just as he was with Joshua. In Joshua 23, Joshua shared that he was getting ready to die. Prior to his death, he declared the faithfulness of God. He declared that “not one word of all the good words which the LORD your God spoke concerning you has failed; all have been fulfilled for you, not one of them has failed.” Joshua led God’s people in numerous battles – against Jericho, Ai, five Amorite kings, and so many others. With the exception of one battle (due to one man’s disobedience), Joshua led them to victory.
PRAYER: Lord, you are a God of war. You go ahead of us to fight for us to bring us victory. This passage of scripture reminds me that you can give the victory over and over again. You are my faithful God. I trust you to fight for me to bring me victory, as I yield to your will. In the name of Jesus, I thank and praise you. Amen.
