Failure to Give Proper Reverence to God

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Romans 1:20-21

This passage of scripture refers to the fact that God’s invisible attributes are seen and understood by the things He has created. Because God’s presence is obvious in everything we see, touch, and experience, those who are ignorant of God are without excuse. Not glorifying God and being ungrateful will take a person on a downward spiral that ends with darkened heart.

Why do we bring this up? We bring it up because it is important for us to understand that our attitude about God can either set us up for living a sexually pure life or create an environment that makes it easy to live a sexually immoral life. God gives man free will and will allow man to walk in uncleanness and lust, dishonoring the body. Keep in mind that man was made in God’s image – with the ability to either choose God’s way or his/her own. It is ultimately the person’s choice.

If you keep God in his proper place, everything else lines up. The Word of God declares to seek first the kingdom of God, and all the other things will line up.

PRAYER: Lord, my decisions are life changing. I ultimately set the course of my life based on how much I allow you to lead me. Give me eyes to see if I am deviating from the course you have set for me. I want to please you in body, soul, and spirit. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
