And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

Luke 23:33-34

Lord, you are a forgiving God. Despite what my loved one has done; you are right there to forgive. In this passage of scripture, you hung on the cross dying a sinner’s death. Despite the mean and cruel things done to you, you still forgave.

Now, Lord, I know you will forgive my loved one. All he or she must do is cry out to you. Give them the heart to ask you. Let them not feel condemned for the things they have done. Let them sense your love and concern for them. Let them know that their lives can be made new.

Also, Lord, give them the grace to forgive themselves. We know that they do not deserve your mercy, but we thank you for it. You are a tender and compassionate God and you long for us with affection. Open their eyes so that they see how forgiving and loving you really are.
