Or do you not know that you body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price, So glorify God in your body.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Walking in holiness can really be difficult. The Word of the Lord says that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. It is where God resides. We do not belong to ourselves. God redeemed our lives from the pits of sin. This is easier said than done. Why? It can be difficult because our flesh constantly craves to be satisfied. How do we counter those desires? Most of us try willpower to deal with our sin. We think that if we make up our minds to do better, we will conquer our flesh. That is far from the truth.

Let us not get this twisted. Living a life in opposition to our flesh can be difficult. We want to sleep and not pray. We want to eat what tastes good and not walk in moderation. We want to experience sexual pleasures instead of the joy of sexual purity. We want to walk in insecurity, rather than opt for confidence in Him. We want to watch television and not read the Word.

Despite how horrific our fleshly desires, we must remember that God gave us his precious Holy Spirit which counters everything we could ever think about in our flesh. We have the power to overcome every craving we can think of. If we walk by the Spirit, we will not gratify the desires of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

PRAYER: Lord, I do not belong to myself. You purchased me by your precious blood and have filled me up with your spirit. Let me walk in a way that I am always relying on my new nature. I want to glorify you in all that I do and all that I am. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
