Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.

Proverbs 6:6-8

Growing up on a farm was sometimes difficult. Family members were always doing something to prepare for the next season. If the soil was not made ready for spring, no seeds could be planted. Without seeds, there were no plants. Then, without care, crops won’t reach fruition. In addition, if the crops aren’t harvested, there are no profits. You get it. Every season is important.

It is the same with our life. Every season is important. There is no season that is more important than the other. Each builds on the next. In this passage, the writer says that we are to look at the ant who is self-motivated to work! The ant does not need anyone to tell it what to do. The ant knows that if it does not store during the summer, it will not be prepared for winter.

PRAYER: Lord, let me make the most of every season, keeping in mind that each season is important. Give me the discretion to do what I need to do in every season of life. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
