The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
1 Samuel 3:10
And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
Acts 9:4
The call of the Lord is powerful. Most of the time when someone talks about calling, we think about the call to ministry. All of that is fine, but we must remember that God has called each of us to this journey with Him. Many times, we listen to the "call" of others and look to God to work with us the same way. This is certainly not the case. God is not a cookie-cutter God. Just like he made each of us look differently, even identical twins, each calling is different.
For instance, look at the call of Samuel. Samuel was called as a youngster living
with the priest Eli. Yet, Paul was called differently. Some of us have
very little confidence in our call from God because it may not have been as
miraculous as another. Each call is miraculous because it requires the "scales" to
be removed from our eyes to see and accept this glorious gospel.
PRAYER: Let me never look at my call as less than another. Each call involves
both a call and a response. I am forever grateful for my beautiful call and I'm so
glad you continue to keep me. It’s not anything I can boast about, for it is all your
doing.
