He accepts me
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will – to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. Ephesians 1: 3-6
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation Colossians 1:21-22
There is something special about marriage. It goes beyond the wedding ceremony, the vows, and the rings. I believe that the most beautiful part about marriage is the unconditional acceptance. In a perfect world, we are to stay married until death and enjoy unconditional acceptance from our spouses. How beautiful is that?
This is not just seen in marital relationships, but it is also seen in other familial and friendly relationships. Some people are so committed to each other, that the thought of either walking out of the relationship is simply unheard of. For instance, Jonathan and David loved each other so deeply, as friends, that Jonathan was willing to be disloyal to his father because it would cause harm to David.
This measure of acceptance cannot even be compared to the acceptance we have in Christ. Ephesians 1:3 says that he chose us; predestined us in accordance with his pleasure and will. Even though we were alienated from God and were enemies of the cross because of our sins, God accepted us and reconciled us so that he could present us holy, without blemish or accusation. Now that is a mouth full! We are accepted.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, there are times when I feel like an outsider in certain arenas. Thank you for the reminder that you have accepted me on purpose. You have a plan for my life. Let me rest and enjoy this relationship. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
