Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. [Luke 7:14-15]
In this part of scripture, Jesus directed the widow’s son to rise. The young man sat up. The word doesn’t say he was groggy; he just began to speak. Then Jesus gave him to his mother.
The singer CeCe Winans tells the story of one of her brothers who had been hospitalized. The doctor came to tell the family they had lost him. His father, “Pop” Winans, laid hands on the doctor’s hands and told him to go back. The doctor returned to the operating room, and the Winans brother recovered. Yes, our God still performs miracles. And when He does, the manifestation can be immediate. Things and people can come “alive.”
PRAYER: Lord, I thank you for your Word that reminds me that you are still a miracle worker. Please speak to the things that are dead in my life. I thank you in advance for doing what seems impossible. In the name of Jesus, I praise you. Amen.
