Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. (Psalm 119:105)
Beginning a new year usually means a time of assessment and reflection. We look at what happened last year and determine that this year, we will get it right. Prior to writing this devotional, I scoured the internet to find some inspirational quotes for the new year. Here are a few of them:
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” (C.S. Lewis)
“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.” (Albert Einstein)
“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorry, it empties today of its strength.” (Corrie Ten Boom)
“Resolution One: I will live for God. Resolution Two: If no one else does, I still will.” (Jonathan Edwards)
“New Year’s Day is a good time to fix one’s eyes on the only One who knows what the year is to hold.” (Elisabeth Elliot)
The fact of the matter is that despite what cliché or saying to embrace on the 1st day of the year, we typically lose sight of it as we are plunged into a new year filled with good and bad times.
This year, I challenge you to find a scripture that will take you through the year. Choose one that would be a reminder of God’s faithfulness to you despite all the things the year will bring.
MEDITATION: Holy Spirit, help me find a Word that will carry me through the next 365 days of the year. I believe that you will enlighten me and give me revelation knowledge so that I know how and when to apply it. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
