Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” [Matthew 19:26]
This week, we turn our attention to miracles. As a reminder, miracles are Christ’s works that go beyond human understanding. Wayne Grudem says, “A miracle is a less common kind of God’s activity in which he arouses people’s awe and wonder and bears witness to himself.” According to Crosswalk, our God who is always present, works (performs miracles) in surprising and unfamiliar ways.
For example, miracles demonstrate that God can speak life into dead things. Can you think of a time in your life when God did what you thought was impossible? Can you think of a time when God did something for you that you could not do on your own?
Many of us are dealing with situations over which we have no control. Helplessness and a sense of hopelessness can leave us feeling alone, abandoned, isolated, and fearful. Yes, our current situations may seem dry and desolate. But we serve a God who brings dead things to life!
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for being the God who sees, even when I think you don’t. Thank you for reminding me that you really care––that you took an intimate interest in creating me and that you know the very number of hairs on my heads. I praise you for doing exceedingly and abundantly above all that I can ask or think. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
