Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Ephesians 5:1-2

Paul extends his thought about what imitating God looks like. He says that we are to walk in love. Now, that is a tough commandment. It can be difficult because folks can do some unloving things to us, making it hard to be loving in response. Now, here is the tricky part. Paul does not say to feel loving. Paul says that we are to walk in love. That means that every decision I make is for the other’s greatest good. Sometimes that means fighting through feelings and still deciding to walk in love.

PRAYER: Father, there are times when I do not feel loving. I get angry, hurt, and disappointed when others do something to hurt me. Remind me that you command that I walk in love, despite my feelings. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
