Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

Hebrews 12:1-2

Another stumbling block to running our race may be a lack of faith. Faith allows us to see what is not there…yet. Faith caused Noah to see the rain before one storm cloud appeared. Faith caused Abraham to trust a God who told him that his offspring would be as numerous as the sands on a seashore when he was old and had not one child. Faith produced victory for the Israelites in Rahab’s eyes before they even showed up for war.

Where faith is lacking, there is no vision. Without faith, it is not only impossible to please God, but it is also impossible to see him. How do we increase our faith? We increase our faith by our study of the Word of God. The Bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. You believe what you constantly hear. Want more faith? Study more Word.

PRAYER: Father, sometimes my faith waivers so that I am unable to see you. Give me what I need so that my faith always trumps the things that are seen, felt, and experienced. God, I want you to be more real than anything else around me. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
