Trouble humbles…

But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.”

Mark 16:7

I think that out of all of the disciples, I can relate the most to Peter. Peter was passionate and impulsive, and I truly get him. At times, Peter found himself making declarations without counting the full cost.

In Matthew 26:35, Peter touted that he would never deny his Lord. He said he would die for Christ if he had to, but yet, we find Peter denying his Lord repeatedly during the most difficult time of Jesus’ earthly life. Because of his sin, Peter wept. He became broken. This pain humbled him so that after the resurrection, our Lord met a humble servant who could really be used to lead the first century church.

CHALLENGE: Ask the Lord to search your heart. Are there areas in your life where you are proud? How can you use the lessons learned from your trouble to walk before our Lord in humility?
