Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Ephesians 4:2

This passage of scripture is very clear. God intends for us to be completely humble, gentle, and patient. Sometimes, we think that humility means that we should be passive, allowing others to make decisions for us.

Allowing others to control us is not humility. We can be humble and remain strong in our conviction. Humility means that our worth comes from God, but it does not mean that we allow others to control us.

PRAYER: Lord, let me not mistake passivity for humility. You created me with a will that you expect me to use. Humility means that I lean on you to help me make decisions, but I am not constantly deferring to others. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
