“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” 1 Chronicles 16:34

A song by gospel artist CeCe Winans speaks to my heart these days. It begins:

“I love You, Lord For Your mercy never fails me All my days, I've been held in Your hands From the moment that I wake up Until I lay my head Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

'Cause all my life You have been faithful And all my life You have been so, so good With every breath that I am able Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God”

As I look back over my life—years ago, last year, last month, and yesterday, I see evidence of God’s faithfulness. I see his footprints in the sand. I see how He has held me in his arms, has carried me. As my parents used to say, “He brought me through dangers seen and unseen.” Those are reasons to praise Him. From morning until night, God deserves our praise. So yes, I will sing of the goodness of God!

PRAYER: Lord, you are so good. Even though it seems that the world is spinning out of control and the enemy is like a roaring lion, you remain a merciful God. And because you are merciful, I am not consumed. I praise you for your compassions. They never fail. Thank you for renewing them every morning. Thank you for being a faithful God. In the name of Jesus, I praise you. Amen
