“ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
1 Corinthians 13:7
Going to a wedding is so exciting. What are your favorite parts of the ceremony? For me, I love when the groom sees the bride for the first time, when the parents give the daughter away, and when the scripture is read.
I am a romantic at heart, and very little compares to how a groom looks at his bride. When the parents give their daughter away, I think about how difficult this act must be for them. After all, the groom is someone they really don’t know. Finally, I love the scripture reading because, usually, in it are answers for whatever will come that couple’s way.
Right in the middle of this chapter is verse 7. It says that love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Apostle Paul is intentional about the words “all things.” He could have said, “Love bears, believes, hopes and endures all things.” If he had done that, others may not have truly gotten the point. I believe that he repeats “all things” because he wants us to know the power of God’s love. Despite the issue, love is the remedy. Despite what the couple encounters, God’s love is the cure.
PRAYER: Lord, teach me to walk in Your love. Holy Spirit, fill me up so that God’s love flows out of my communion with Him to others. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
