Thursday, September 28, 2023 - The Spirit helps

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

Romans 8:26

For today’s devotional, the scripture does the work. Paul says in this sentence, “We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself interceded for us…” We think we know what to pray for, but we do not. There is no way to know when our knowledge is so limited. Only our God who knows what he wills for us can lead and help our prayers. Many of us jump ahead of God to pray for things he never wanted us to have. If we want to change the power in our prayer, we must give him the driver’s seat and allow him to pray through us.

PRAYER: Lord, teach me to pray. Teach me to yield to your will in my prayers. Let me allow you to set the tone and help me with my words. When I don’t have the words to say, let my spiritual language speak for me. In Your Name, Amen.
