Your wrath has swept over me; your terrors have destroyed me.
All day long they surround me like a flood; they have completely engulfed me. You have taken from me friend and neighbor— darkness is my closest friend.
Psalm 88:16-8
Have you ever felt like you were blamed for everything bad? I recall when I first took my current job. I was moved to an area that was completely new to me. We all know that as one ages, learning a new job is not so easy. During those early days, things were so busy. I made a couple mistakes, trying to learn the process in an incredibly busy office. After a while, every mistake anyone made was blamed on me. This lasted for quite some time. I accepted it as a period of humbling, as I was used to being very good at all my vocational pursuits. After a few months, I learned how to display on the spreadsheet who did what and soon learned that I was not the only one making errors. Everyone in the office was.
I can only imagine that God feels like this a lot of the time. We know that he makes no mistakes, but he gets blamed for everything. We know that he is sovereign, but we live in a fallen world. Because of the sin that is here, there are just consequences we reap. Period. End of story. Yet, our God gets blamed for everything.
PRAYER: I know I have charged you foolishly with so many things that I have endured. I am so sorry. Lord, forgive me. In Your Name, Amen.
