“Do not judge, or you will be judged.
Matthew 7:1
This passage of scripture is probably the most disputed, misinterpreted scripture today. Why? We live in a “don’t judge me, and I won’t judge you” world. This is the scripture that we use to keep folks out of our business. We have all heard it quoted. We think that by pronouncing this quote we are exempt from being “judged” despite our lifestyle.
We must remember that we make judgements every day. Jesus expects us to make judgements, for Jesus even says in Matthew 7:15-16 that we should make judgments based on the fruit that we or others bear. How do we judge? We judge in a way that is fair, considering our flaws and shortcomings. We use the same standard, despite who exhibits the behavior.
PRAYER: Lord, teach me to be discerning in a way that brings you glory. In Your Name, Amen.
