Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
Psalm 46:10
Oh, the power of silence—our next gateway of gratitude. Au and Au say in their book, “The Grateful Heart,” that silence is powerful as it increases our awareness of presence. Through silence, we can deepen our appreciation for what God has done for us. Silence is shutting down the chatter that takes our focus away from what’s really important.
The Lord speaks through this psalm and commands us to BE STILL and KNOW. That is a mouthful in an era of always doing and never just being. By silencing the voices in ourselves and the words of others, we get a divine opportunity to focus our awareness on our God.
PRAYER: Today, teach me to be silent before you. Still the voices in the head and quiet the value and weight of the chatter of others. Be exalted in my mind, my body, my spirit. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
