C.S. Lewis

20th Century Christian Thinker

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Romans 12:1-2

C.S. Lewis states the following:

“It is like that here. The terrible thing, the almost impossible thing, is to hand over your whole self—all your wishes and precautions—to Christ. But it is far easier than what we are trying to do instead. For what we are trying to do is to remain what we call ‘ourselves,’ to keep personal happiness as our great aim in life, and yet at the same time be ‘good.’”

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I admit that I have pursued personal happiness and sought you for remedy when I felt like I fell short of it. I know that this is not your greatest aim for me. Lord, let me lose myself in you. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
