“When Pharoah let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, ‘If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.’”

Exodus 13:17

The journey to freedom wasn’t a quick and easy one for the Israelites. In fact, God had to make it longer just to keep them from the war path. Yes, there are some easy routes in life that God can’t allow us to take—lest we put ourselves in (greater) danger. If God has closed a door, know that while the door He’s opened may not be the most attractive or appealing, ultimately, it is the best option for you. His best is what is best for us.

Walking with God doesn’t ensure a short journey, but it does ensure a safe one.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I need you to remind me of this principle when I get discouraged about the road you have chosen for me. Give me the grace to trust you, knowing that you have chosen the very best for me. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
