So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

Hebrews 9:28

When I read this verse of scripture, one thing pops off the page: “those who are eagerly waiting for him.” Oh, my goodness! Do those words stand out for you? I remember that my brother, Daryl, who went home to be with the Lord last year, talked about heaven all the time. He looked so forward to his eternal life with Christ. I personally believe that one of the things that kept him looking toward heaven was the adversity he endured on earth. Don’t you think the reverse could also be true? Can it be that in this free country with so much prosperity that we DON’T eagerly await Christ’s second coming because we are just too comfortable? 

PRAYER: Lord, give me a heart that awaits you. You have provided your life for my life. Let me never take that for granted. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
