Monday, September 25, 2023 - The Importance of Prayer

Pray without ceasing,

1 Thessalonians 5:17

I have been dealing with a strong unction to pray lately. This has been very refreshing for me because I know when the Holy Spirit nudges me to pray, he wants to do something in my life. Additionally, I have been through a spiritual desert, and prayer has not come easy during the last few years. So, I am encouraged that God is moving me closer to him.

It is not a surprise that God would want us to pray. The Word of the Lord tells us to pray without ceasing. God wants us to do it for it is the engine of our walk with him. It is where we get the power and direction to walk out his will in the earth.

Over the next week or two, we will focus on some lessons about prayer. I pray that these words will help fuel your prayer life and remind us of prayer’s importance. We will base some of what I share on a book by Ronald Rolheiser, “Prayer: Our Deepest Longing.”

PRAYER: Lord, you say in your Word for us to pray without ceasing. Yet, I find every reason in the world not to pray. Let the lessons ahead remind me of why I should make prayer my priority. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
