Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.

I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me.

Psalm 119:18-19

During my study for the devotions this week and next week, I delved into familiar scriptures that have been misappropriated in our Christian walks. Peter Krol, on the “Desiring God” website, states that most of us gravitate toward familiar bible verses, but there is a word of caution. Krol says that there is a “deceptive wile of familiarity” that prevents us from truly seeing the depth of Scripture. We assume things that are not in the text and are blinded to things that really are present.

So, this week, we will focus on passages that we have wrongly interpreted because of our familiarity with them.

PRAYER: Lord, open my eyes so that I see the wonderful things in your law. I am a stranger on earth. Please do not hide your commands from me. Open my eyes. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
