O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. Psalm 63:1
Over the past few years, I have enjoyed writing some of the devotionals you receive through this inbox. Researching and crafting messages have been sources of personal fulfillment and spiritual growth that always begin with prayer and end with God speaking through my fingers. While I’ve edited some devotionals in recent months, I’ve only written a small number of those you have received. That’s partially because some new obligations have been a priority. In the past, regardless of my schedule, I always contributed to these ministry efforts.
Why didn’t I write more? Simply, I’ve been in a dry place. It’s been difficult to transmit words from my depths to the computer screen.
Have you ever had a prolonged period that lacked activity and productivity? Spiritually: Have you ever felt that you and God were distanced? If you haven’t, you’re probably “grazing” in green pastures right now. Otherwise, you can identify with me (and David in the wilderness – Psalm 63 ).
Issues like grief, illness, sin, or “stepping away” from God, can sometimes “take” us to dry places. During this season, be it “dry,” I’ve decided to take David’s advice and look for Him. For in his sanctuary, there is power and glory!
PRAYER: Dear Lord, I am in a dry place. I’m looking for you. I need to see your power and experience your glory. I pray for my sisters and brothers reading this. Regardless of where we all are in relation to you, I pray that we will look for you, as we seek to grow in our faith during these next two weeks. And no matter how we feel, we lift up our hands in praise. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
