For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

I was on prayer call recently, and the encourager focused on three words: “It is written.” For days, those three words marinated in my spirit. Much has been said about the power of the written word. Teresa Mummert noted, “Things spoken can be forgotten and forgiven, but the written word has the power to change the course of history, to alter our lives.” Echoing that sentiment is another quote: “The word after a word after a word is power.”

Power. Change. Both describe God’s love letter to humanity – the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 reminds us that “all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

This week, we will focus on my friend’s message title: “It is written.” Through the pages of God’s word, we will examine the meaning and context of some Bible passages containing this term.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I thank you for giving me a life roadmap. Your Word detailed in 66 books is such a gift. I thank you for the history, the poetry, the prophesies, the gospels, and the epistles. Thank you for the individuals you used to reveal your will and your way to us. IT IS WRITTEN! In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
