“Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” Genesis 3:9-10

This week, we continue our series on being disconnected from God. We are going to examine some biblical characters, their “disconnections,” and how they reconnected. Prayerfully the lessons from these examples can assist us as we attempt to stay connected to the Father.

We will start with God’s first human creations: Adam and his wife Eve. Place the cunning serpent into the equation, and things turn upside down. The serpent began by asking the woman if God had really directed her not to eat of every tree. She replied that they could eat from any tree, except the one that was in the midst of the garden. Doing so would bring death. Later in the Genesis story, we learn that when Eve saw that the tree was good for food and pleasant to the eyes and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She shared it wither husband, and he ate too. Their eyes were opened, and they knew that they were naked. They sewed fig leaves together and made themselves covering. God called Adam. Then Adam acknowledged that he had heard God’s voice, was filled with fear, and he hid.

PRAYER: Lord, there have been times when I have blatantly disobeyed you. You looked for me. You called my name, and I, like Adam, was filled with fear. I know I can’t hide from you, but I tried anyway. You didn’t disconnect from me. Despite my shortcomings, you still loved me. I thank you in Jesus’ name. Amen
