“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.” Psalm 139: 7-10

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 335 million people live in America. That’s a lot of people. Regardless of how many people surround us, whether we are a part of a large family, or if we live by ourselves, we can feel alone – solitary, lonely, lonesome, isolated from others. It is one thing to feel distant from neighbors, relatives or friends, but it is another thing to feel disconnected from God.

Over the next two weeks, we will address “disconnection from God” issues. We know in our hearts – because scripture tells us – that God is omnipotent, all powerful; omniscient, all knowing; and omnipresent, everywhere. But in our minds – in reality – sometimes we don’t feel like God is near. A feeling of disconnect from God can come in many forms. Sin separates us from God. Failure to spend time with God can make us feel far away. Disappointments – when God doesn’t answer our prayers the way we think He should – may cause us to step away or disconnect from Him. The reasons are many – some of which we will explore during this series.

PRAYER: Father, I admit that there are times when I feel that you are far away. I admit that this is a matter of my perspective. I know in my heart that you will never leave me. I know that you will never forsake me. Your word says that you are omnipresent. Help me never to step away from you. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
