Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Proverbs 3:23

What is the heart? The heart is thought to be the seat of the soul. The soul is the person’s mind, will, and emotions. The person’s thoughts and emotions influence the will. Though many times we put a focus on what the person is thinking, we sometimes dismiss what the person is feeling. Both are important, as they both influence what the person will do.

So, how can we apply this passage to our lives? We must place a guard on what we think and what we feel. How do we do this? We do it by meditating on the Word of the Lord. The Word of the Lord says that we hide the Word in our heart so that we might not sin against God. When our mind and emotions are influenced by the Word of the Lord, it guards our heart. By guarding our heart, we determine our behavior.

PRAYER: Lord, hide your Word in my heart so that it is guarded. I understand that everything I do flows from the heart. Let me think righteous thoughts and feel what you feel. In the Name of Jesus. Amen
