He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3
This verse of scripture is on every pillow that our ministry sends to the widows served through our Widows’ Project. We know that the loss of a spouse is a difficult blow. It causes so many difficult emotions and forever changes a person's reality. There is nothing that a widow can do to alter her new “permanent” state. In addition, death of a husband, in many cases, affects the livelihood of the wife left behind.
This scripture on the pillows we give away reminds the widows who receive them that despite the pain, God is the healer. He does not run away from our pain; he comes and nurses us in it. If you have been wounded sexually, God can heal you. If you have been wounded physically or verbally, God can heal you. Even if you have been wounded, in your opinion, by God, He can heal you. God is ready for you to run to him with your pain and wounds. He wants to heal you.
PRAYER: There are times when it is difficult to let go of the pain. I think to myself that I will never get beyond the heartache. I wonder how much time it will take for me to heal and what I should expect in the days ahead. Despite the number of questions I have, you have the answers. Let me remember that you are my relief. Let me lean on you and remember that as I walk with you, I am headed in the right direction. Give me light in this dark place. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
