Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

When I taught youth Sunday School classes, I often told my students to be careful about the type of music they listened to and the lyrics they played as they slept. Subliminal messages, I told them, have a way of creeping into our spirits and taking control of our thought processes. The same is true of what we watch on television, the books and printed materials we read, and the websites we visit. As I look back over my life, I realize that the movies I watched, the music I heard, and the books I read have contributed to who I am. I know firsthand that unwholesome media can contribute to an individual’s land being dry. They can help to distance one from God.

PRAYER: Lord, keep me mindful of my role in creating dry places by feeding my spirit and mind the wrong things. Give me a hunger and thirst for your righteousness. Help me to fertilize every fiber of my being with those things that will help build my faith and grow my relationship with you, not tear them down. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen
