Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.
2 Samuel 12:10
Oh my, that little compartment has now caused a big calamity. God took the penalty of sin, but many times we still experience the consequences. Despite David’s relationship with the Lord. Despite David’s ability to sing and make music to the Lord. Even though David was a man after God’s own heart. David still had to walk out the consequences of his sin. His sin caused hell to break out in his home. The sword did not depart from his house.
He lost children to the sword. One of his sons was killed by another son. His daughter was raped by her own brother. What a mess! Despite the fact that David was used by God, the consequences of his sins were a lot to bear. Was it worth those few minutes of pleasure with a woman he wanted? Absolutely not. If that is the truth for David, it is the same for us. Sin is never worth it. It is best to walk it out the way God has intended.
PRAYER: Lord, give me a clean heart to love you like I should. To walk the path that is right and do the things you would. Give me a clean heart, and I will follow you. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
