Aiding and Abetting

Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.

1 John 2:10

We have heard about people who have been arrested because they were aiding and abetting the person who committed the crime. What does that mean? It means that you can be punished if you are involved in such a way that the crime could not have happened without your influence. You are then considered an accessory to the crime, and you can be held accountable for helping someone do something wrong.

This passage of scripture tells us that if we truly love our brother and sister, we will not do anything that makes them stumble. What does that mean? It means that you would not act in a way to influence them to do wrong. It means that you speak up when you know it is wrong. It means that you don’t allow them to remain comfortable in their own sin.

PRAYER: Lord, I want to influence my brother and sister to live holy. Let my words and actions be a motivation for them to do right, not wrong. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
