But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

My earthly father was a man of modest means. Multi-talented, he could look at a bookcase and replicate it with his set of tools. Although he didn’t finish high school, he was an avid reader – as evidenced by the margins of our family’s old set of encyclopedias which are filled with his notes. A farmer who never knew from year to year what his profits would be, one of Daddy’s deepest longings was to leave something tangible for his children. He was able to do that. Nothing that he left us (our mother and my siblings) compares to what God has prepared for us his children. As the Sovereign Lord’s sons and daughters, we are a royal priesthood, a chosen generation, more than conquerors. Ephesians 1:5 says He predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will.

Our receiving what God has prepared for us, however, is contingent upon our love for him. Luke 10:27 begins with a directive: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart.” IT IS WRITTEN.

PRAYER: Lord, today I am grateful that my mind cannot fathom what you have prepared for me. I am your handiwork, created in you to do good works. And because I am your child who loves you, I have a magnificent inheritance. I thank you that IT IS WRITTEN. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
