“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

Matthew 5:6

If you are anything like me, you have struggled with your weight. I have been on a number of diets in my lifetime, and I am struggling right now with the motivation to eat healthier. I do well at work, but when I get home, I want to eat. One thing I learned about my appetite is that my body craves what I give it. If I begin to eat sweets, it will crave sugar. If I give it a healthy diet, it craves nutritious foods.

If we are honest with ourselves, many of us are not eating a healthy spiritual diet. We spend our leisure time on things that have no spiritual impact. Just as I train my body to want healthy foods, I can train my spirit in the same way. We can’t binge watch a show on Netflix and expect that we will develop an appetite for righteousness. It is only when we get ourselves accustomed to feasting on godly things, do godly things satisfy us.

PRAYER: Lord, give me an appetite for the holy. In the Name of Jesus, I thank you. Amen
