Trouble brings you back to God…
“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.”
Luke 15:17-19
We all are familiar with the story about the prodigal son. Jesus tells this parable when confronted by Pharisees and scribes who complained about him receiving sinners and eating with them.
To refresh your memory, Jesus tells the story of a man who had two sons. The younger son asked for his inheritance, journeyed to a far country, and wasted his possessions with reckless living. When he had spent it all, he found himself in a destitute situation, not even having food to eat. He eventually came to himself and decided to go back home and, at the very least, live like a hired servant. Upon his return, the father throws a party, gives him the best robes, and puts a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. He declares that his son was dead and is alive again. He was lost and is now found. Trouble brings us back to God
PRAYER: Lord, let patience have its perfect work. Let my trouble help me open my eyes to see where I really am with you so that I can repent. I want to walk in sync with you, Lord. In the name of Jesus, I praise you. Amen.
