Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
Revelation 1:7
Have you ever watched a good movie and could not wait until the end, so you fast forwarded your DVR? Or, have you ever watched a movie and was disappointed about the ending? I think we all have done those things.
Jesus does not leave us hanging in this “movie” of life. He has revealed the end of the story. He is coming with the clouds, and everyone will see him, even those who wronged him, maligned him, denied him. The sad part of this ending is that those who did those things will wail on account of him.
What does this mean, as we look toward 2024? It means that we must work while it’s day. It means that we ask God to give us a heart to share the gospel with others. It means that we keep our eyes so heavenly minded that we pray for the salvation of the lost. The price is so high! I don’t want anyone wailing because I did not do what I was supposed to do.
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for this gift of salvation. Because I am a believer, I get to see you at work in my life. I ask that you agitate the hearts of those in my circle who do not know you. Lord, soften their hearts to see their spiritual state and humble them to accept your gift of salvation.
I also pray for those who work on the mission field. I pray for those who have given their entire lives to the gospel, leaving father, mother, and children for your sake. Lord, provide for them and also touch my heart to do the same, as you have blessed me.
I pray for a heart that is always thinking about the salvation of others. Give me the boldness to declare your Word and to work to help save those who are lost. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
