You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

Genesis 50:20

This is the perfect way to end the week. Today, we are reminded that God's call is providential. We know that God is Sovereign—Ruler of all things. No one is greater than Him. There is no throne higher than his. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He rules over all. He can do whatever he wants to do when he wants to and how he wants to.

His providence is altogether different. This scripture from Genesis demonstrates just that. Most of us are familiar with the story. God had given Joseph a dream that his brothers would one day bow to them. In turn, they plotted to kill him but later decided that they would sell him to some merchants. Joseph providentially ends up in Egypt, where he provides for his family during a famine. Joseph forgives his brothers and reconciles with them. He declared in this passage that his brothers intended to harm him, but God used their evil for good. God gave Joseph the dream and saw to it that the dream came to pass while weaving his purpose in the lives of his people, in the midst of bad behavior. Absolutely amazing!

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for reminding me about this story that encourages me amid being in a dark season. You see to it that your word is performed in my life. Your purpose will always prevail.
