Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

John 16:7-11

The church is empowered. Jesus tells his disciples that he had to go away so that the Holy Spirit would come. His Holy Spirit would convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment. How would that happen? It would happen through the saints—the church.

This is one of the main reasons we choose to walk in the light and why we strive to be salt of the world. We are the only Jesus the world will see. We must ask the Lord to help us walk circumspectly before him and others, so that we see Christ’s reflection in us.

PRAYER: Lord, I need you to help me to walk before you in a way that is pleasing to you. Jesus went away to send the Holy Spirit to help me. Now that He is here, I have the power—through the Spirit—to do what he has called me to do. Thank you, God! In the name of Jesus, I pray and give you praise. Amen
