For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle. He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. Psalm 27:5
Yesterday we talked about some of the ways loneliness comes dressed. Today, we continue that focus. Loneliness can come dressed as a young adult who is wrestling with finding a place in the world; a professional fighting depression who feels God is a million miles away; a person who believes that God has forgotten him or her; or a man trying to provide for his family who can never seem to get ahead. A person who deals with chronic illness whose constant companions are pain, agony, thought patterns, and medical appointments; a caregiver whose family member is trapped in the throes of a debilitating disease; or a person who deals with problem after problem, never catching a break can also feel a sense of loneliness.
Have you ever felt desperate in your loneliness? Jesus did. In Matthew 26:39, he said, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
PRAYER: Father, you knew there would be times when we would feel troubled, downcast broken-hearted, and miserable. You knew there would be times when we would mourn, be in despair, feel hopeless, or desperate. Thank you, Lord, for being with me in every situation. In the name of Jesus, I pray and give thanks. Amen
