And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen (Matthew 28:20)

Have you been in a situation when someone was trying to get your attention? Maybe the person called your name or used a word that signaled they were about to say something important. Jesus does this in this passage of scripture. He has already died on the cross; has been resurrected and is now getting ready to ascend to His Father. He had also given his disciples directions to continue the ministry of His work on the earth. While it sounded easy enough – go and make disciples – this was a dangerous mission. The disciples knew what this meant: They would have much opposition.

Jesus makes a decision to say one word – this word would be one of consolation and assurance. He says, “lo.” He wanted them to pay attention to what he was about to say. So, he says, “Behold! See! Lo?” Yes, this would be no ordinary mission, but you have the guarantee that I am with you. I won’t be here in bodily form, but I will be with you.

Prayer: Lord, there have been times when I have disregarded the power of your presence in exchange for what I want when I petition you in prayer. Lord, thank you for being with me as I walk out Your mission for my life. Teach me to access everything available to me as a result of your mighty presence. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN.
